Which pulse is located at the wrist?

The pulse located at the wrist is known as the radial pulse. This pulse can be felt on the radial side of the wrist, just below the base of the thumb. It is commonly used in clinical settings to assess heart rate and rhythm because it is easily accessible and provides a reliable measure of the pulse.

The radial artery, from which the radial pulse is derived, branches off from the brachial artery in the arm and travels down into the hand. Checking the pulse at the wrist is typically done by placing the fingers on the skin over this artery, allowing for the assessment of circulatory health.

In contrast, the brachial pulse is located in the arm, the femoral pulse can be felt in the groin area, and the dorsalis pulse is situated on the top of the foot.
